Along the eastern shores of Lake Neusiedl
The Neusiedlersee winegrowing region to the east of Lake Neusiedl extends from the hills of the major vineyard city Gols, across the flat heath plains and down to the Seewinkel district. Many grape varieties grow to maturity here in the roughly 6,000 hectares of vineyards. Since 2012, the new Neusiedlersee DAC has been synonymous with the fruity and harmonious Zweigelt reds, blessed by the climate and the soil. The main grape varieties are Welschriesling and Zweigelt.
