Welcome to the vintner’s paradise
The smallest of Burgenland’s winegrowing regions – nicknamed the “vintner’s paradise” – extends from Rechnitz to the further reaches of the Jennersdorf district. With its quintessentially mineral tang, Blue Frankish is the dominant type of wine here as well. But Blue Frankish aside, fruity Welschriesling and Pinot Blanc are also cultivated in the vineyard towns of Eisenberg, Deutsch Schützen and Rechnitz. Another typical product of South Burgenland is the legendary “Uhudler”, a particular wine speciality pressed from direct producer hybrids that has attracted a large following due to its aroma of wild strawberries.
